Now that I own a newsstand in Los Angeles, I am embarking on a new project. In the spirit of "work with what you've got," I am making a collage every day, whether I feel like it or not. You can see them by going here. Here is the first one:

My solo show at Baer Ridgway Exhibitions opened. The highlight was getting to talk to Robert Bechtel about painting. These works wouldn't exist without his influence, so I was weak-kneed with joy that he showed up. He told me he liked what I was doing. But then again maybe he was just being nice. Either way. A few pictures:

	And then things got extra meta when noise rock gods Melt Banana stopped in and posed with me in front my painting that features bananas, fire and wax.

The lucky collector who purchased the piece from the MoCA auction sent me a photo of his Manhattan apartment. I think it looks great in its natural habitat. (The other piece you see is by the artist Erika Keck)

I had a piece in the 2009 LA MoCA Fresh Auction. I got dressed up and took my dear friend Daniel Stessen to the party. My piece sold for a respectable amount and I got to make Craig Ferguson laugh by making fun of Don Johnson. (LA is so great that way).

Daniel Stessen at People-Food threw an art show and party in Los Angeles. I hung about 12 pieces around the house and we invited everybody we knew. Gray Kid made amazing art food and we killed about six cases of beer. Jenny O, Gray Kid, Riki Lindhomn and Asa Ransom played music. Chad Nicholson took the photos. Movie stars showed up. I had a great time, everybody was wonderful and smart and asked good questions and I sold three pieces.

My show Memories I'll Never Have at the San Jose Institute for Contemporary Art was included in Dennis Cooper's top art shows of the year. This is especially wonderful for me as DC is my favorite living writer, without question.
